Extremely short design and infinitely adjustable over a wide range, from 0.5 – 3.0mm
The fixed-seat iris works with individually pin-located tempered spring steel leaves
The aim-point is precisely maintained through the wider range of adjustment by the introduction of a new system of aperture control operated by varying the pressure of a steel tube against the central aiming ring - this guarantees a perfect circle at any point within the scale
Iris made of hardened spring steel, not brass like other manufacturers, therefore extremely robust, making it also suitable for large calibres
Iris blades are firmly connected to the base body, therefore a shift in the point of impact is completely impossible
Light reflection is kept to a minimum by applying a special matt finish to all external and internal surfaces
Laser engraved indications
Optics 1.5x dioptre with -4.5 to +4.5 dpt correction
Optics can be unscrewed and replaced by the 577-thread adapter to obtain a "classic" iris setup without dioptre adjustment
Thread M9.5x1 for all well-known target rifle brands
The Gehmann 566-579 Rear Sight Iris combines a precision adjustable iris, integrated six-colour filter system and advanced cylindrical vision correction in one highly versatile unit. Designed for competitive target shooters, it provides exceptional control over sight picture, light transmission and visual correction, helping to achieve the clearest possible view of the target and sights.
The adjustable iris offers a wide aperture range from 0.5mm to 3.0mm, allowing the sight picture to be optimised for changing lighting conditions while maintaining precise, repeatable adjustment. Six optically flat glass colour filters—Yellow, Light Green, Orange, Purple, Dark Grey and Light Grey—can be accurately positioned to enhance contrast and improve target definition in a variety of shooting environments. The unit can also be used as a standard iris without any filter selected.
Incorporating Gehmann's innovative 579 cylindrical correction system, this model allows shooters to compensate for diagnosed axial and spherical vision defects directly through the rear sight. This advanced optical correction provides a practical alternative to dedicated shooting lenses, enabling precise visual adjustment without compromising the sight picture.
A locking collar ensures accurate positioning of the reference V-mark, while laser-engraved markings allow repeatable settings. The removable steel threaded connector enables additional accessories, such as the Gehmann 0.0 dioptre, to be fitted when required. Finished with a special matt anti-reflective coating on all internal and external surfaces, the 566-579 minimises glare and unwanted reflections for maximum optical performance.
Compatible with all major target rifle brands via its M9.5 × 1 thread, the unit is supplied complete with an instruction manual.
